Since taking the reins at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator in 2014, Sal Petroccitto has championed significant transformational change across the young industry body, working to ensure the Regulator has the right operational focus and capability to fulfil its remit under the Australian Heavy Vehicle National Law. Drawing on extensive knowledge of transport policy and regulation and the operational challenges of the heavy vehicles industry, Petroccitto also served as General Manager of the Roads, Rail and Ports System Management Division with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, where he was responsible for the development of key strategies and policies for the state's transport system and had overall coordination of the state's multi-modal freight policy agenda.
